FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to consult an audiologist in North York?
No referral is needed. Just call AudioSense Hearing and Balance Clinic or use our online booking system to arrange your complimentary hearing assessment.
Is the hearing test covered by OHIP?
OHIP hasn’t covered audiology services since 2001, so hearing assessments incur a fee. AudioSense provides a complete range of tests—from outer-ear screening to inner-ear diagnostics—and if you have private health insurance, you may be reimbursed according to your plan’s coverage.
Are hearing aids covered by OHIP?
Hearing aids aren’t funded by OHIP, but Ontario’s Assistive Devices Program (ADP) offers a $500 grant per aid every three to five years for most residents. AudioSense will handle your ADP application and direct-bill the grant portion, so you’re only responsible for any remaining balance.
How often should hearing aids be serviced or cleaned?

We recommend professional servicing every 4–6 months, with daily at-home cleaning. Call AudioSense Hearing and Balance Clinic to schedule comprehensive maintenance that keeps your devices in top shape.

How do I know if I need a hearing test?

Consider booking an assessment if you frequently ask others to repeat themselves, struggle hearing in noisy environments, keep raising the volume on devices, experience ringing in your ears, or if friends and family notice you’re missing sounds.

Regain your balance and connect with your world!
