FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to consult an audiologist in Richmond Hill?
No, you don't need a referral to visit our clinic. You can book a complimentary hearing assessment directly with us by phone or through our online booking system.
Is the hearing test covered by OHIP?
Since 2001, audiology services have not been covered by OHIP, so there is a charge for hearing assessments at AudioSense. We offer a comprehensive range of hearing tests for both adults and children, evaluating all parts of the ear from the canal to the inner ear. If you have private health insurance, either personal or through your employer, you might be reimbursed for these services depending on your insurance plan and coverage level.
Are hearing aids covered by OHIP?
While OHIP doesn't cover hearing aids, there is assistance available! In Ontario, the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) from the Ministry of Health provides a grant of $500 per hearing aid every three to five years for most residents. At AudioSense, we handle the application process for you and directly bill ADP, meaning you don't have to pay this portion upfront.
How often should hearing aids be serviced or cleaned?

We recommend professional cleaning and maintenance every 4-6 months. Regular at-home cleaning should be performed daily. Our Richmond Hill clinic offers comprehensive maintenance services to extend the life of your hearing devices.

How do I know if I need a hearing test?

Consider booking a hearing assessment if you: frequently ask people to repeat themselves, have trouble hearing in noisy environments, find yourself turning up the volume on devices, experience ringing in your ears, or if others comment that you're not hearing them clearly.

Regain your balance and connect with your world!
