Salima Jiwani is a Clinician-Scientist. She is the Founder/Director and Lead Audiologist at Audiosense. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto, and a Past-President of the Canadian Academy of Audiology. Salima earned her Ph.D. in Auditory Neurophysiology & Cochlear Implants from SickKids Hospital and the University of Toronto. She completed her Master’s degree in Audiology at Dalhousie University and an Honour’s undergraduate degree in Linguistics & French at the University of Toronto.

Salima has a keen clinical and research interest in disorders of the external, middle and inner ear, including hearing loss, auditory processing difficulties, sound sensitivities and post-concussion auditory deficits. Salima is passionate about understanding how the brain responds to sound after injury, impairments and in post-surgical management of cochlear implants. Salima works with children and adults of all ages at AudioSense, and provides her patients with industry-leading audiological care for hearing, balance, and post-concussion services by leveraging her clinical, research and industry experience. She firmly believes in a holistic cross-collaborative team approach to audiological care with other health care professionals and is always looking for outside-the-box evidence-based innovative ways to offer care to her patients. Outside of work, Salima continues to be engaged in clinical research and advocacy initiatives to elevate the profession of audiology, give audiologists a voice and promote optimal care for her patients.

Yazna dove into the world of audiology while completing her Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences at the University of Toronto. It was during her time volunteering at various clinics that she discovered the profound impact audiology could have on patients' lives.

Following her interest, she pursued a Doctorate in Audiology at Syracuse University in New York, a journey that spanned four enriching years which included learning from several research-based professors while being exposed to a plethora of unique clinical settings. Wanting to bring her newfound skills and knowledge back to Toronto, she was accepted into an externship year at Toronto General Hospital. There, she immersed myself in the world of vestibular testing along with hearing aid dispensing and gained invaluable experience caring for medically complex patients.

Beyond her professional endeavors, she is a creative soul at heart, finding joy and tranquility in oil-based painting. Yazna's goal is to refine her skills and eventually share her art with the world someday! When she's not in the clinic or at the canvas, she can be found practicing yoga/pilates, exploring new restaurants, or spending quality time with her loved ones.

With over ten years of experience in healthcare administration, including valuable time spent at Mount Sinai Hospital in the departments of oncology and surgery, Natalie brings a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for patient care. As Clinic Manager, Natalie is dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming environment for all our patients. She loves getting to know both new faces and familiar ones, always striving to accommodate your needs and ensure your experience with us is a positive one. Outside of work, Natalie enjoys exploring live music, and thanks to her custom ear plugs from Audiosense, she can enjoy the music while protecting her hearing! We’re so happy to have Natalie with us and look forward to you meeting her soon!
