Neosensory

Neosensory is a California-based neuroscience technology company that developed the Neosensory Duo, a wearable device for tinnitus management that uses bimodal neuromodulation via the skin rather than the tongue. The Duo is a wristband, resembling a watch, that contains four vibration motors. These motors produce haptic (tactile) vibration patterns that are synchronized with sounds delivered through a paired smartphone app.

The concept behind the Neosensory Duo is the same as other bimodal neuromodulation approaches: stimulating two sensory pathways simultaneously, in this case hearing and touch, is hypothesized to promote neuroplastic changes in the auditory system that reduce the brain's sensitivity to tinnitus signals. The wristband's vibrations are matched to tones calibrated to the user's tinnitus frequency range through the app. The recommended program involves approximately 10 minutes of use per day over several weeks.

The Neosensory Duo received FDA authorization and can be obtained directly through the company's website as well as through trained hearing healthcare professionals in the United States. Unlike Lenire, which requires fitting and programming by a trained clinician, the Neosensory Duo can be used without clinical supervision, though professional guidance is available through some providers. It is not currently a cure for tinnitus but may reduce its perceived severity for some users.
